There Must Be More I Could Do
Today one of our local alcoholics gave me the following sage piece of advice as I passed by:
"Take laundry seriously!" She advised, passionately.
Well, gosh, I've been trying - but perhaps it's still not enough.
Is there some kind of organization I could join? A rally? Perhaps we all need to be better informed.
People this is not a problem that will go away if we ignore it! Don't turn your back on the issue (or your hamper). Write letters, raise awareness! Socks disappear every second in this country. Don't let another one go away unnoticed...

Perhaps she was missing a comma. Like, 'Take laundry, seriously!' Perhaps you should be stealing people's undies.

Actually maybe it was her failure to take laundry seriously that led to her downfall and hence her current state in life as mentally unhinged (potentially homeless) alcoholic.
Life may have seemed simple enough at first. Living happily, enjoying her clean clothing. But then, she moved and her new home did not have in-suite laundry. So this happiness quickly turned to distress as she never was able to utilize the 'shared laundry facilities' for reasons only we can speculate upon.
So to solve the dilemna of no clean underwear, she did what all lazy laundry people do- She bought new underwear. Quickly ending up with a 6 week supply of underwear. But alas, her income earning could not support her underwear buying habits.
As a result of this laundry lazyness, she lost everything, and resorted to alcohol to appease and hide the pain, and the knowledge that if she had just made time to utilize the shared laundry facilities, her life would not have come to this conclusion.
So I suggest you heed her warning carefully. Lest you end up down that road of despair.
Oh no, Marissa! Could it all have derailed so simply? Could a lack of in-suite laundry lead to such turmoil!
Good heavens, I'd best take heed!
You know you see someone with a laundry issue and you just don't realize from whence it stemmed... We are all but a step away from having that disconnection with out our clothes.
Run, don't walk to your nearest laundromat, if you experience any of the following symptoms:
1) Wearing the same underwear repeatedly
2) Wearing someone else's underwear rather than doing the wash
3) Obsession with preaching the good word of laundry
4) Failure to purchase soap from an authorized dealer
